Massive fire in the Amazon forest, 44 thousand soldiers and two military aircraft deployed

“A total of 44 thousand troops have been deployed to extinguish the fire,” Brazilian Foreign Minister Fernando Azevedo said. Troops have been sent to the states which had sought federal assistance.

The first fire extinguisher mission will be in the capital of Rondonia province. Two C-130 Hercules aircraft will also be used. These aircraft are capable of draining 12 thousand liters of water at a time. The US aircraft B747-400 Super Tanker is being used to extinguish the forest fires in Bolivia.

Apart from the United Nations, several countries, including France and Germany, have expressed concern over the Amazon fire. Several European countries have also accused Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro of ignoring Amazon’s security.

Pope Francis also expressed concern

Pope Francis has also expressed concern over the issue. “We are all concerned with the fire in the Amazon rainforests. Pray that the fire is brought under control with the efforts of all of us. These forests are very important for the earth. ‘
