The first match of the two-match Test series between Team India and the West Indies is being played at Antiga. Today is the fourth day of the match. India were 241 for 4 in their second innings at stumps on day one. Chasing a loss of 316 runs, Team India were all out for 316 in their first innings.
India’s second innings, Virat & Rahane’s half-century
In the second innings, Team India’s opener batsman did not run with a bat. Mayank scored 16 runs with 43 balls to spare. He was LBW out on Roston Chase’s ball. India’s second wicket was won by Lokesh Rahul. Rahul was batting well and well. He was also bowled out on Roston Chase’s ball. He scored 38 off 85 balls. Pujara was bowled by Kemar Roach. They were all out for 25 runs in their second innings.
Virat Kohli was caught by John Campbell on Roston Chase’s ball. Virat Kohli scored 51 off 113 balls in his second innings. On the second day of the match, Virat Kohli was out for the second ball. Virat Kohli could not add a single run in the 51-run innings on the third day.
West Indies first innings, batters
For the West Indies, the innings was started by Brathwaite and Campbell. The partnership was a 36-run partnership for the first wicket. Shami broke. Shami made a clean boulder to Campbell on 23 and gave Team India its first success. Ishant Sharma gave the Indian team another success. He caught Craig Brathwaite on his own ball for a score of 14 runs.
Ravindra Jadeja scored his third success for India. He made Shamar Brooks a catch-out at Rahane’s hands. Brooks scored 11 off 36 balls. Jaspreet Bumrah knocked Darren Bravo out of LBW.
Bravo scored 18 runs off 27 balls. Ishant Sharma scored his second success in the innings as Roston Chase. He bowled out Roston Chez at the hands of Lokesh Rahul. Chez scored 48 off 74 balls.
Ishant Sharma made a catch out for Rishabh Pant on 24. Ishant Sharma took the fourth wicket of the innings by knocking out Hetmeyer. Ishant caught a hat-catcher on his own ball. Hetmeyer scored 35 off 47 balls. Ishant Sharma made his fifth victim, Kemar Roach.
Roach could not even open the account and his catch was caught by Ishant Sharma on Virat’s ball. Skipper Jason Holder was bowled out by Rishabh Pant on Shami’s ball. Holder scored 39 runs. The tenth wicket of the Caribbean team fell as Cummins. They were made bold by Jadeja. They could not even open their account.
In the first innings, Ishant Sharma scored five, Shami and Jadeja 2-2 while Jaspreet Bumrah scored a success.
India’s first innings, Rahane and Jadeja’s half-century
The Indian team made a very bad start in the first innings. The team lost their first wicket as Mayank Agarwal. Mayank was bowled out by West Indies fast bowler Kemar Roach at the hands of Shai Hope. Mayank scored five runs. Cheteshwar Pujara was also bowled out by Roach.
Pujara became the second victim of Roach. He scored 2 off 4 balls. Indian captain Virat Kohli was disappointed in the match and hit his catch on Shannon Gabriel’s ball by just nine runs. Virat faced off 12 balls and scored 9 runs. Lokesh Rahul made 44 runs with 97 balls to spare, but Roston Chez made him catch out at the hands of Shai Hope.
Hanuman Vihari handled the Indian innings with Rahane but was bowled out by Kemar Roach for 32 runs at the hands of Sai Hope.
Ajinkya Rahane played a brilliant inning for the team. However, he missed his century. He scored 81 runs with 163 balls to spare. He became bold on Gabrielle’s ball. Rishabh Pant scored 24 runs with 47 balls to spare. He was caught out by Komar Roach at the hands of Jason Holder.
Ishant Sharma played well with Jadeja, but he was bowled out by Shannon Gabriel for 19 runs. That’s where Mo. Without opening an account to Shami, Roston Chase showed the way to the pavilion. Chez caught Shami’s catch on his own ball. Jadeja scored 58 runs with 112 balls to spare. They were caught out by Jason Holder at the hands of Sai Hope. Jaspreet Bumrah remained unbeaten on four.
In the first innings, Kemar Roach took four, Shannon Gabriel three, Roston Chase two while Jason Holder took one wicket.
Rohit Sharma has not found a place in the team
Rohit Sharma has not been given a place in the last eleven in the first Test against the West Indies. Three fast bowlers and two spin all-rounders Hanu Vihari and Ravindra Jadeja have been given a chance in the squad.
Mayank Agarwal and Lokesh Rahul will take over the opening. Ajinkya Rahane has been replaced by Rohit Sharma in the last eleven.
