An asteroid measuring between 250 and 570 meters will fly close to Earth in a matter of days, NASA has announced. The celestial body, which is in the category of “potentially dangerous,” will approach our planet on June 6.
The asteroid, called 163348 (2002 NN4), is expected to pass by us at a distance of 5.1 million km at a speed of 11.1 km/s. this Saturday, at 07:20 Bulgarian time.
The asteroid, which has been making a full circumference around the Sun for about 300 days, was discovered in 2002.
The asteroid is classified as potentially dangerous as its trajectory crosses Earth’s orbit
A potentially dangerous asteroid numbered 163348 (2002 NN4) measuring between 250 and 570 meters will fly in a few days near Earth, NASA reported.
According to the U.S. Space Exploration Agency’s announcement, the asteroid will pass a minimum distance from Earth on June 6 at 7:20 a.m.
This time it poses no threat, as it will pass around the planet 13 times farther from the moon’s orbit. However, the asteroid is classified as potentially dangerous as its trajectory crosses Earth’s orbit.
