Cyprus: huge forest fire "under control" (authorities)

A huge fire that destroyed an entire section of the Troodos forest in Cyprus and killed four is “completely under control,” authorities said Monday, nearly 48 hours after the disaster broke out. The fire, the worst ever seen on the Mediterranean island, was fully under control Monday morning, the Forestry Department said. The fire, which began Saturday afternoon at Arakapas near Limassol (south) and was fueled by scorching heat and winds, has spread to eight more sites, he said.
