25 strange museums in the USA

Many of the world’s most prestigious museums can be found in the United States. However, there are also a selection of museums that are less appreciated but still offer an amazing educational experience. Some museums are so unique that a tourist will wonder how such features exist. If you’re looking for a unique experience that’s unusual, here’s a selection of the 25 strangest museums in the United States.

Angel-Beloit Museum, WI

The Angel Museum is located in Beloit, Wisconsin and features 6,000 angel figurines. The museum was founded by Joyce Berg in 1995 after she ran out of space for numerous collections. The museum is located in the premises of the former Catholic Church of St. Paul, which was originally supposed to be demolished. The collection contains a selection of angels donated by Oprah Winfrey from her famous collection of black angels. According to the Guinness Book of Records, the museum is the largest privately owned museum with so many angelic figures.

Busy Beaver Button Co. – Chicago, IL

Busy Beaver Button Co. is the only known key museum in the world. The museum is located in Chicago, Illinois, and was founded in 1995 by Christen Carter. Inspired by the popularity of buttons in England, Christen Carter decided to open a museum. The buttons on Busy Beaver celebrate holidays, bands and life events. Designers are invited every year to create new buttons.

Cockroach Hall of Fame – Plano, TX

Cockroach Hall of Fame is located in Plano, Texas. The museum has collections of scenes decorated with dead cockroaches that are masked. It shows close to 25 insects in costume-like costumes. One of the most entertaining features of the museum are the figures of celebrities and people. The museum exhibits live cockroaches that can be heard hissing. When cockroaches die in live exhibitions, they become museum decorations.

Forbes Pigment Collection – Cambridge, MA

The Forbes Pigment collection in Cambridge, Massachusetts is home to more than 2,500 pigment samples, and that number continues to grow to this day. Visually, the museum is fascinating because all the pigments are arranged in the shade. The collection of pigments takes visitors on a surprisingly informative tour through the centuries, where they can discover which colors have become popular over time, sometimes for more sinister reasons.

Neon Boneyard – Las Vegas, Nevada

Outside the casinos of today’s Sunset Strip, the name Las Vegas represented one – neon signs. The so-called “neon habitat” exists to preserve this important part of the city’s history and identity. While this premise may seem relatively normal compared to other records on this list, the eclectic combination of neon signs makes this museum unique. Some of the neon signs are quite large and impressive. Due to this embarrassing fact, the museum is only accessible with a guided tour.

Museums are interesting historical destinations to visit and are wonderful platforms to showcase your artistic skills. However, a unique museum can occasionally attract more tourists than a regular museum, especially if it is the only one of its kind in the world.
